Mr.
Oluwole Sunday Oduyemi FCIB (Chairman)
Oluwole Oduyemi was born on May
3, 1943 in Abeokuta, Nigeria. He attended Baptist Boys’ High
School, Abeokuta between 1956 and 1960, and began work soon
after. In 1967, he qualified as an Associate of the
Institute of Bankers, England, and later enrolled at the
University of Lagos, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s (Honours)
degree in Accounting in 1970. In 1979, he took a leave of
absence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and proceeded
to the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, where he
bagged a Master’s degree in International Banking and
Finance in 1980. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of
Bankers, he was for several years, a member of the Governing
Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
In 1987, he was honoured by the University of Lagos Alumni
Association with the “Distinguished Alumnus” award.
Mr.
Oduyemi joined the services of the CBN in 1964 after a brief
stint with the Barclays Bank DCO (now known as the Union
Bank of Nigeria), and rose through the ranks. He worked in
several departments, and made a career in the Banking
Supervision Department with responsibilities for supervision
of financial sector from where he was appointed Director,
Banking Operations Department in 1987.
He was
appointed Deputy Governor (Domestic Operations) in 1990. In
June 1999, he was re-appointed as Deputy Governor, in charge
of General Administration while he also served on several
key policy making committees of the CBN such as the Monetary
Policy Committee (MPC) and the Financial Sector Surveillance
Committee (FSSC).
Mr.
Oduyemi has participated in several professional activities
including the Bank Examiners Programmes of the US Federal
Reserve System and the FDIC, Washington DC, management
programmes at the International Institute for Management
Development, Lausanne, Switzerland, the Midland Bank Plc
(now HSBC) London and the Bank for International Settlements
(BIS) Basle, Switzerland. In Nigeria, he has served on the
Boards of the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company, the
Societe Generale Bank (Nigeria) Ltd and the National
Provident Fund (now the National Social Insurance Trust
Fund).
Mr.
Oduyemi, who is married with three children, retired on
January 12, 2004 after a record 14-year period as Deputy
Governor and 40 years of meritorious service at Central Bank
of Nigeria.
Alhaji Abdul Rasaq Ishmael
ACIB, ACIS (Vice
Chairman)
Alhaji Abdul Rasaq Ishmael was
born on December 8, 1939 in Lagos, Nigeria. He attended
Leeds College of Commerce (now Leeds Polytechnics),
Yorkshire, England between 1963 and 1967. He is a qualified
Associate of the Institute of Bankers, England and Institute
of Secretaries and Administrators, England. He had a brief
stint at National Bank of Nigeria before he joined Backlond
Wills, Yorkshire, England between 1963 and 1966.
He served
in the Banking Supervision Department of Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) with responsibilities for examining the books
and affairs of licensed banks to ensure compliance with
laws, rules and regulations as well as prudent banking
practices. He became Director of Branch Operations in 1996.
His
service with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) spanned
thirty (30) years characterized by merit that took him to
the position of Director, Branch Operations Department of
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before retiring to private
business.
He is
happily married with children.
Mr. Olaniran O. Aloba
FCIB, FCMA, FCA (Director)
Olaniran Olutayo Aloba was born
on July 7, 1949 in Osun State, Nigeria. He attended London
School of Accountancy, London in 1979. He is an Associate
member, Institute of Bankers, England, Institute of
Management Accountants, England and Fellow, Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
He is an
astute banker whose experience reflects by the number of
years he spent in the banking industry. He joined the
services of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 1966 and rose
through the ranks to become Assistant Director, Banking
Supervision Department in 1990. He was General Manager,
Prudent Merchant Bank Limited, 1990-1991 and Chief
Inspector, National Bank of Nigeria Limited, 1991-1993.
He became
Executive Director, Finance & Information Technology,
Afribank Nigeria Plc from 1993 to 1996. From 1996 to 1999,
he was in charge of Corporate Development & Services in the
same establishment. He could confidently bank on his over
thirty-five year’s wealth of experience to start his private
consultancy and investment business after retirement in
1999.
He is
married with five children.
Mr. Olusola Alo
ACCS, AIB, ACMA (Director)
Olusola Alo was born on January
24, 1944 in Ekiti State, Nigeria. He attended University of
Manchester Business School, Manchester in 1977 and London
School of Accountancy, London between 1980 and 1982. He
joined United Bank for Africa (UBA) after a brief career in
the teaching profession and worked as clerical officer
covering all aspects of Banking Operations, Domestic,
Foreign and Advances from 1967 to 1970. He was promoted to
Officer Grade and later as Sub-Manager analyst handling
lending propositions from branches.
Olusola Alo was later promoted
as branch manager, Kaduna South branch. He was then moved to
Training Department having responsibilities for training
needs of all United Bank for Africa (UBA) employees. He was
subsequently transferred to Financial Services Division with
responsibilities for large-scale consortium lending, funds
placement etc. and later as branch manager, Ikeja Branch.
He
resigned in 1997 to manage Professional Associates Limited,
a management consulting firm with strong staff development
competence. He served on the Board of Caxton Press (W.A)
Limited, ODUA Printing Company, a subsidiary of ODUA
Investment Company.
He also
served on the Federal Government Visitation Panel to the
University of Nigeria, Nsukka and also as a member of the
Industrial Training Fund Governing Council.
Mr.
Olusola Alo is happily married with five children.
Mr. Gbadebo Shoroye
FCA, FCCA, ACIB (Director)
Gbadebo Shoroye was born on
August 30th, 1936. He is an Associate member,
Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. He is a fellowship
member of both Chartered Association of Certified
Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
Nigeria.
He
started his banking career with First Bank of Nigeria from
1959 to 1962. From 1963 to 1965, he worked with the
Accounting firm of J. Magee & Co as an Audit trainee. His
career took him to the Federal Ministry of Defence where he
served as an Accountant between 1966 and 1967.
Mr.
Shoroye served with the Central Bank of Nigeria for
twenty-six (26) years (1967 – 1993) with concentration on
regulation and supervision of licensed banks and other
financial Institutions in the country. He had a brief stint
at Organization and Methods (O & M) division and Finance and
Accounts department. He retired from the Central Bank of
Nigeria in 1993 as a Departmental Director.
Mr.
Shoroye was later appointed into the board of International
Merchant Bank Plc (IMB) as an Executive Director from April
1993 to 1995 with responsibilities to supervise the
Corporate Banking Group and the Banking Operations Group.
Mr.
Shoroye served at various times on the Board of NBCI, FMBN
and Accounting Standard Board as a representative of Central
Bank of Nigeria. He also served on the Board of Intercity
Bank Plc as a bank being managed by IMB Plc under the
Technical Management Agreement.
He is
presently the Principal Consultant of Adonai Investment
Limited and is happily married with children.
Mr. Adeshina Oduyemi
Olusola M.Sc (Director)
Adeshina
Olusola was born on November 13, 1971 in Lagos, Nigeria. He
attended Ansar-rudeen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos
between 1984 and 1987. He was at Command Secondary School,
Jos from 1987 to 1989.
Adeshina Olusola enrolled at
the University of Calabar between 1990 and 1992 but was
quick to leave to attend Huron University, London between
1992 and 1996 from where he obtained Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
in Business Administration.
He
obtained his Master of Science (Msc) in Information
Technology from East London University between 1997 and
1999. He was actively involved in conducting research on
consumer goods and services on behalf of clients and
educational bodies at Continental Research Limited, London
from 2001 to 2003.
Adeshina Olusola is presently
managing Mayfield Farms Limited, comprising a hatchery on 25
acres farm at Ajah and an egg production farm at Badagry.
He is
married with a child.
